DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general oversight of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the Porter will be tasked with: facilitating the transfer and support of patients within and from the Diagnostic Imaging Department; managing the distribution of departmental laundry; assisting Technologists in the movement and positioning of patients during imaging procedures; ensuring the safety and comfort of patients; replenishing supplies; preparing and sanitizing stretchers; delivering specimens as necessary; maintaining a secure working environment, along with other assigned responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:
*demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience in Diagnostic Imaging or a related field;
*thorough understanding of universal precautions concerning the cleaning and handling of equipment, specimens, and supplies, including infection control and health and safety regulations;
*current familiarity with Diagnostic Equipment;
*strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities;
*proficient knowledge and experience using Meditech modules and competent keyboarding skills (assessed);
*effective communication and interpersonal abilities;
*capacity to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and manage patient flow in a high-traffic department;
*proven capability to physically lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids; managing aggressive patients; able to walk, climb stairs, push equipment, and bend to perform tasks. These physical demands are frequent throughout the shift;

*demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety, along with participation in regular in-service education sessions in this area;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment align with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
