Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Exhibition Coordinator to join our team at the Billy Bishop Museum, A National Historic Site. This temporary role is designed for individuals who are passionate about cultural heritage and exhibit management.

Work Details

  • Experience: 1 to 2 years or equivalent experience
Work Environment

The position may involve working in various settings, including urban and rural areas, heritage sites, and museums.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and prepare detailed reports.
  • Assist in the research, management, and preservation of artifacts.
  • Support the planning and execution of traveling exhibitions and special events.
  • Classify artifacts, assign registration numbers, and oversee inventory management.
  • Design and construct displays, dioramas, and models, ensuring proper installation and preparation of artifacts for storage and transport.
  • Safeguard cultural artifacts and collections during exhibitions, transit, and storage.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience in cataloging and curatorial assistance.
  • Knowledge of exhibit preparation techniques.
Exhibit Preparation Experience
  • Experience with display cases and mounting/installing objects.
  • Background in museum, historical, and cultural exhibit design.
Safety and Security
  • Must be bondable.
Transportation Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are necessary.
Physical and Personal Attributes
  • Ability to perform manual tasks with attention to detail.
  • Capable of a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, including handling heavy loads.
  • Demonstrates dependability, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Exhibits initiative, organizational skills, and effective time management.
