We offer training and professional development opportunities tailored to meet the specific needs of the youth we serve.
Role Summary
Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the Intensive Support Worker (ISW) will deliver personalized support to youth on a daily basis. Responsibilities include planning engaging activities and ensuring the safety and supervision of youth both on-site and in the community. The ISW will operate on a flexible schedule determined by the Associate Director, focusing on risk mitigation and the overall health and safety of the youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain open communication and provide continuous support to youth.
- Ensure constant supervision of youth during activities.
- Develop and execute engaging activities tailored to the interests of the youth.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm and energy.
- Support youth in challenging situations, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
- Collaborate with frontline staff as needed to support youth.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations of all Home Base locations.
- Respect the guidelines of external venues during activities.
- Communicate effectively with the Associate Director and/or Program Manager as necessary.
- Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in training sessions relevant to youth support.
- Attend conferences with Health and Social Services when required.
Qualifications
- Strong professional boundaries and reliability.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with youth facing various challenges, including trauma and behavioral issues.
- Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of at-risk youth.
- Understanding of Northern First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
