Key Responsibilities

The Operations Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Operations Director to manage the daily functions of the Recycling and Waste Centre. This includes overseeing scale operations, waste processing, and recycling activities while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The facility operates nearly 24 hours a day, 363 days a year.

  • Facilitate seamless operations of the facility in line with contractual obligations;
  • Optimize the handling of recyclables and waste to enhance production while prioritizing safety;
  • Implement daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure operational efficiency;
  • Develop and achieve budgetary goals through effective resource management, including labor and equipment;
  • Supervise a team of up to 25 employees, both directly and indirectly;
  • Assess and review work to guarantee quality and compliance with established policies;
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of processes aimed at improving safety, productivity, and profitability;
  • Support team leaders in maximizing crew efficiencies;
  • Address customer service inquiries and collaborate with staff to minimize complaints;
  • Engage in regular discussions with local authorities regarding facility operations;
  • Present financial performance reports to senior management on a monthly basis;
  • Lead safety meetings to foster positive workplace relationships and enhance morale;
  • Compile and submit operational reports to senior management on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED; relevant post-secondary education is an asset;
  • Proven experience in a managerial role is essential;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • A positive mindset that fosters a collaborative work environment;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff at all levels;
  • Experience in the waste management and recycling sector is advantageous;
  • Background in operational financial management is preferred.
