Job Title: Safety, Health and Environmental Manager

Job Summary:

Waterford Executive is seeking an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to join our team. As a key member of our corporate management team, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing standard Safety, Health and Environmental programs across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation at our Canadian business locations, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement strategies to prevent workplace injuries, refine and maintain organizational health and safety policies, and influence the implementation of Safety, Health and Environmental initiatives.
  • Training and Communication: Conduct and create training and communication for management, staff, and Joint Health and Safety Committees on Health & Safety compliance requirements, including WHMIS, First Aid, Fire Plan, Fall Arrest, and Lockout Tagout.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior management on health and safety statistics and performance.
  • External Liaison: Liaise with external agencies, including the MOL, WSIB, OSHA, and HSE, to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Facility Audits and Risk Management: Coordinate corporate facility audits and set audit standards, review incident trend data to identify key risk areas, and establish and execute plans to eliminate identified risks.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Act as a coach and mentor to supervisors and other staff on SHE matters and best management practices.
  • WSIB Claims Management: Manage all WSIB claims, including appeal hearings.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Initiate and maintain effective working relationships with key managers across the organization to assure awareness of and collaboration on issues of common concern.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Designations: CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professionals) and/or CHSC (Certified Health and Safety Consultant) designations.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience working in a leadership role within Health & Safety, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, facilitation, and training skills in the health and safety areas, analytical and strategic skills to enable the evaluation of best practice approaches to the design and implementation of SHE programs, and proven ability to drive improvements in SHE programs.
