Dessert Holdings is seeking a Full-Time Production / Relief Machine Operator to contribute to our operations. This role involves setting up and troubleshooting machinery to uphold production standards. You will maintain cleanliness, assist line personnel, and comply with safety and quality regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES: (This is a full-time production position that provides Machine Operator support as necessary)
- Engage in various roles on the production line (Depositing, Decorating, and Packaging) to create our premium cake offerings.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Setup and troubleshoot equipment to ensure products meet standards and maintain optimal line performance.
- Uphold hygiene standards for equipment and the facility, in line with GMP standards and Master Sanitation Schedules.
- Manage waste removal from production areas as required.
- Safely use, store, and maintain all company-provided cleaning tools and materials.
- Assist with setup, contract cleaning, and maintenance services when necessary.
- Maintain all necessary audit documentation and other required records.
- Coordinate with relevant staff throughout shifts to ensure continuous process and quality adherence.
- Support line staff daily with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Facilitate training and ongoing learning initiatives within the department.
- Consistently practice the five steps of cleaning.
- Operate all assigned equipment, with critical machinery managed by the maintenance team.
- Conduct product changeovers on non-critical equipment.
- Work efficiently to ensure smooth changeovers with minimal downtime.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent; technical qualifications are advantageous.
- Must be legally eligible to work full-time.
- 1-2 years of experience as a machine operator in a continuous process manufacturing setting, ideally in food or pharmaceuticals.
- Familiarity with chemicals and comfort working in cold environments.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Capable of working independently, well-organized, and sound judgment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with mechanical and technical understanding.
- Proven reliability and excellent attendance record.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, navigate equipment, and work efficiently.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
Shift Details:
- Availability for a minimum of five shifts per week, including Saturdays.
- Interested in more hours? Increase your availability.
- Shifts are rotational, lasting 8 hours with a 30-minute break.
Schedule:
- Schedules are posted two weeks in advance.
- Must accommodate all starting times for assigned shifts.
- Start times may vary daily, with shifts beginning between:
- A-Shift: 1:00 am - 6:00 am
- C-Shift: 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Rate: While in the Production role, the probationary rate is $19.96 per hour, increasing to $22.18. For the Machine Operator role, the probationary rate is $24.11, with a full rate of $26.78.

- Shift premium for hours worked between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am.
- Weekend premium for hours worked between 5:00 am and 7:00 pm.
