Position Overview

The Financial Operations Associate will play a crucial role in supporting comprehensive accounting functions for the National Music Centre and its associated entities. The ideal candidate will possess robust full-cycle accounting expertise, a keen eye for detail, outstanding interpersonal abilities, effective communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for the not-for-profit and music sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, client follow-ups, and payment processing.
  • Managing monthly accounts payable and executing payments via cheques and electronic funds transfers.
  • Reconciling vendor statements accurately.
  • Processing and documenting weekly cash deposits, wire transfers, and electronic transfers.
  • Conducting monthly reconciliations of credit card transactions.
  • Performing data entry and generating financial reports.
  • Executing bank reconciliations effectively.
  • Recording journal entries for cash deposits, wire transfers, and electronic payments.
  • Maintaining physical files as necessary.
  • Reconciling and documenting petty cash transactions.
  • Assisting the finance team with year-end audit preparations.
  • Undertaking additional tasks as assigned.
  • Supporting the development and documentation of financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications

The successful candidate should have:

  • A diploma or certificate in accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience as an accounting clerk, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
  • A solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficient computer skills, with experience in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Teams; familiarity with ticketing software is an advantage.
  • A strong ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Experience in accounting within the restaurant and live music sectors is a plus.
