Construction Project Manager

Reporting to the Director of Construction, this role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of projects under their guidance, overseeing all operational aspects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically plan, direct, and oversee the execution of construction projects assigned to them.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to establish specific project controls, ensuring quality execution and compliance to prevent delays.
  • Draft and manage contracts for consultants, specialists, and contractors, including endorsements, amendments, and change orders.
  • Monitor the services provided by consultants, including drawings, specifications, and supervision of works.
  • Actively participate in site meetings with professionals and subcontractors.
  • Track and manage project costs effectively.
  • Oversee change orders between professionals and subcontractors for accurate cost estimation and execution of work.
  • Coordinate with contractors on all activities related to the progress of work on-site.
  • Contribute to the development and regular updates of the daily project schedule.
  • Engage in contract negotiations as necessary.
  • Prepare and address technical inquiries related to plans and specifications.
  • Manage customer and subcontractor payment requests, along with reviewing shop drawings and samples.
  • Supervise the follow-up of 'Conflict Detections' during BIM project execution.
  • Monitor and address any deficiencies that arise.
  • Participate in bid analysis with the estimation team when required.
  • Ensure that the project coordinator effectively manages amendments and change orders.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, building engineering, or a technology diploma in construction, architecture, or civil.
  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in budget management and progressive invoicing, with strong skills in MS Office and MS Project software.
  • Familiarity with Procore is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the Ontario Construction Code.
  • Knowledge of the Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is advantageous.
