Opportunity for a Skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our Goodwood facility. Reporting directly to the Yard Operations Manager and working alongside the Shredder Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, container chassis, and more.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Schedule dealer service when necessary.
  • Coordinate third-party mechanic services for specialized repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Document all work tasks and materials used.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience working on excavators and loaders is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions within the trade.
  • Knowledge of maintaining equipment such as Hyundai 760 loaders, John Deere 544K loaders, Ottawa shunt trucks, and chassis.
  • Proficiency in operating various tools and equipment used for heavy equipment repair.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve mechanical failures effectively.
