Job Summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd, a leading scrap metal recycling company, is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our Goodwood facility. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, and container chassis.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Equipment Diagnostics: Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Supply Chain Management: Schedule dealer services and third-party mechanics as needed for larger repairs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work tasks, materials, and equipment maintenance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage and support continuous improvement in work practices and processes.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience working on excavators and loaders.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, as well as experience with equipment such as Hyundai 760 loaders and John Deere 544K loaders.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, lift heavy equipment, and work at heights.
  • Availability: Availability to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 am-5:00 pm, and Saturdays, 7:00 am-12:00 pm, as needed.
