Function Overview

The Corporate Finance Advisory Function is dedicated to generating, integrating, and delivering insightful capital market solutions to Scotiabank's Global Banking & Markets corporate clientele.

This Function collaborates with Corporate & Investment Banking sector teams, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and other product areas to provide thorough analysis, stimulate idea generation, enhance financing recommendations, and identify additional business opportunities.


Key Focus Areas:

debt capacity assessment, capital structure optimization to meet financial and/or credit rating goals, and facilitating the rating agency process while managing outcomes for both new and existing issuers.

The Function is actively expanding its team to fulfill its global mandate.

Position Highlights
The team is seeking an Analyst or Associate.

Team members thrive in a stimulating and challenging work environment, engaging in a diverse array of transactions.

The role involves supporting senior team members in identifying new business opportunities and ensuring successful execution.


In the early stages of their career, the candidate will concentrate on financial modeling, research, credit ratings analysis, capital structure benchmarking, and assisting in the preparation of client presentations.

As the individual progresses in their career, they will assume greater responsibilities on live projects and participate in business development under the mentorship of senior team members.

Throughout various projects, you will collaborate with other departments within the firm, such as Corporate Banking, Investment Banking sector teams, Mergers & Acquisitions, Debt Capital Markets, and Equity Capital Markets, gaining insights into both investment banking and capital markets.

Scotiabank also ensures that junior team members engage with senior cross-functional team members and clients early in their careers, providing valuable experience in relationship management and cultivation.


Responsibilities:

  • Assess and analyze the financial requirements of corporate clients.
  • Gather, consolidate, and interpret company, industry, and market data.
  • Conduct credit rating analysis, including scenario analysis utilizing external credit rating methodologies.
  • Develop comprehensive analyses and deliver high-quality presentations.
  • Facilitate the execution of ratings advisory mandates, including drafting rating agency presentations and marketing materials for transactions, and liaising with credit rating agencies, cross-functional deal team members, and external clients.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze client, market, and product data on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify and cultivate business opportunities with clients.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate and/or investment banking or leveraged finance.
Experience at a rating agency will also be considered.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Science, or Technology.
  • CFA, CPA, or equivalent designation is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated record of exceptional achievement in academic and extracurricular endeavors.

Work Arrangement:


This position currently operates in a hybrid model, with an expectation of working 3-4 days a week in the office (minimum).

This arrangement is subject to change based on business needs.
