About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Manager to join our team at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and comprehensive expertise in the management of all Accounting and Capital Reporting Services functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage all Accounting Services functions, including Treasury and Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and School Financial Accounts.
  2. Ensure complete and accurate recording of all funds received and expenses incurred by the Board.
  3. Prepare the Board's consolidated financial statements, March Reports, and all other Capital Reporting to the Ministry.
  4. Coordinate the Board's external audits and provide all documentation required to support the Board's Financial Position.
  5. Demonstrate transparency and ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) financial reporting requirements.
Requirements:
  1. A degree/post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  2. A Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) in good standing.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) accounting standards and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations.
  4. Minimum seven years of progressive financial experience, including management leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships. They will also have advanced understanding of financial information systems and Microsoft Office software.
