Job Title: Dock Line Handler

We are seeking a skilled Dock Line Handler to join our team at SGS Canada. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of liquid cargo at our marine terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tie up and release ships in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct visual inspections of ships to ensure mechanical soundness and identify any defective equipment.
  • Check ships for the last product contained and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Hook up and disconnect cargo and fueling hoses, and operate equipment to load and unload liquid petroleum and other products.
  • Disconnect loading arms and inspect for leaks before releasing ships.
  • Communicate with facility supervisors on any problems that arise during operations.
  • Process and complete necessary paperwork and documentation in accordance with client requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as required, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, and assisting with inventory and weighing materials.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-1 years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience through education.

We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in a petroleum refinery field is a strong asset. The ability to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime is also required.
