Job Summary:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic - Fleet Repair Specialist is a key member of our team at Secure Energy, responsible for the maintenance and repair of our heavy construction and industry-specific equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and drive the implementation of our safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear direction and leadership to our heavy duty mechanics, welders, and other team members, ensuring that workload is distributed effectively and that individual and group strengths are utilized.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil and filter changes, and diagnose and repair complex equipment issues.
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure that it is in good working condition and identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of our shop and yard, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored and handled.
  • Communicate effectively with our safety department and participate in safety-related meetings.
  • Be aware of and adhere to site-specific safety requirements when working in the field.

Requirements:

  • Journeyman's Certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician, or equivalent credentials or work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related industry work experience or demonstrated competency.
  • Welding experience is an asset.
  • Valid and current Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract (air brake endorsement preferred).
  • Ability to complete safety documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Expert knowledge of heavy duty equipment and vehicles, including hydraulic systems, power and drive trains, steering and suspension, and heavy equipment attachments.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and ability to logically process diagnostic information.
  • Strong background in hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and understand work orders.
  • Ability to test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that it meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated requirements.
  • Ability to accurately complete service reports.
  • Physical stamina required to work with heavy equipment and ability to work in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Interest in staying up-to-date with changes in technology related to heavy duty equipment, electronics, and diagnostic tools.
