About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Information Technology Services team at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality business solutions for our IT customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute QA strategies and plans on IT applications, technologies, and processes to ensure delivery of quality business solutions.
  • Develop and implement QA plans for IT processes, capital projects, and operating initiatives.
  • Review project documentation to ensure solution delivery approach aligns with project scope and business requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement and flag potential risks in process documentation.
  • Coordinate QA activities to ensure quality audits and inspections are conducted in accordance with established project complexity, process complexity, or system criticality.
  • Meet with analysts from other functional groups to coordinate and schedule QA activities and ensure conformance to quality requirements.
  • Review solution architecture, solution implementation, business requirements, support plans, and detailed system design specifications to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Review product measurements and evaluate the achievement of quality objectives to ensure established targets are met.
  • Review test strategies and plans and execute functional and non-functional testing of solutions to ensure they perform as indicated.
  • Review Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM) to ensure test cases cover approved solution architecture and business requirements.
  • Review reported defects to ensure they are fixed, retested, and closed.
  • Assure all system environments/permissions are set up adequately according to solution architecture and solution implementation documentation to support production deployment.
Requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with several years of quality assurance/testing experience in the client-server environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies with practical experience in tracking problems and defects, writing test documentation, and application complexity analysis with adequate resource planning.
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Architecture, and Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on experience working with Windows and Unix operating systems, Crystal Reports, Business Objects Enterprise, MS SQL, and Oracle database systems.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages,.Net development, SharePoint, IBM Websphere, and information security best practices.
  • Ability to assume a lead role that includes technical consultation, team guidance, and following through on delivery.
  • Ability to successfully monitor changes and ensure corrective action is taken when necessary.
  • Effective team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and conduct project and technical documentation reviews effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to review and assess strategically short and long-term technology solutions.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees based on AODA recommended standards.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, ISO 9000, or similar software quality management systems is an asset.
  • Experience in a mainframe environment is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience coupled with the ability to motivate staff is an asset.
