Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Design to lead our capital facility development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing major hospital development and redevelopment projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct project planning, design, construction, and implementation of capital facility development projects.
  • Develop and implement capital and operating budgets, including authorization, control, and reporting of expenditures.
  • Ensure timely, quality, and cost-effective project delivery, monitoring systems, and reporting criteria.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to provide advice and problem resolution on design and construction issues.
  • Oversee the management of department human resources, including recruitment, professional development, and performance assessment.
  • Manage contracts awarded to consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance and intent.
Requirements
  • Master's degree and professional designation in a relevant discipline, supplemented by ten years' recent related experience in senior management leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of facilities project delivery processes, including planning, design, construction, and procurement.
  • Ability to effectively manage major facilities projects from concept to completion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to negotiate and facilitate consensus with various levels of government and community groups.
