Your Opportunity:
An engaging opportunity is available for you as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA). In this role, you will find yourself in a dynamic environment where collaboration and individual initiative are key. As a PCA, you will adhere to the personalized care plan developed in conjunction with clients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team, allowing you to thrive in a constantly evolving setting. Continuous learning is vital, and you will be encouraged to participate in educational initiatives and local home care programs.
As part of a dedicated team, you will showcase your creativity and resourcefulness, demonstrating the ability to make informed decisions with minimal guidance. Effective time management and organizational skills are essential as you navigate various responsibilities simultaneously. Your genuine compassion and respect for patients will shine through as you utilize your skills to deliver direct, patient-centered care.
Description:
In the role of Personal Care Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include providing essential personal support, assisting with daily living activities, and offering comfort and companionship to clients who may require temporary or ongoing assistance. You will collaborate closely with patients, families, and caregivers across various care settings, including home, community, and healthcare facilities.
Your contributions will be pivotal in ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, reflecting the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. A confirmation letter as proof of enrollment from the Directory is required. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have completed at least 100 hours of practicum may also be considered. This includes those in their first year of practical nursing or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program. Proof of qualifications must be provided.
Additional Required Qualifications:
You should be capable of meeting the physical demands of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Connect Care for long-term care is preferred. While a Health Care Aide Certificate is ideal, equivalent experience will also be considered. Previous experience in long-term care or home care is advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to maintain effective working relationships within an inter-professional team, are essential.
