Transforming Patient Care in the Surgery Inpatient Unit

North York General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Surgery Inpatient Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient and family-centered care, promoting a culture of excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, including assessment, education, and support.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, fostering a culture of respect and empathy.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice and patient care.
  • Assume a leadership role, mentoring and guiding colleagues to achieve excellence in patient care.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • One year recent experience in surgery, with a focus on surgical nursing skills.
  • Genetic termination experience and PCA, Epidural, Ostomy, TPN experience are assets.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.

This is a Full-Time Temporary position (12 Months), with 8 and 12 hour shifts, including weekends in the Surgery Inpatient Unit.
