Educational Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support to students with diverse needs, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with teachers and other staff members to ensure student success.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide academic, social, physical, emotional, and behavioral support to students in various learning situations.
- Carry out personal care duties to meet the physical needs of students, including toileting, changing, repositioning, and dressing.
- Assist students with mobility and transfer them using safe and appropriate techniques.
- Operate specialized equipment and assist in the implementation of Student Safety Plans under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or school principal/vice-principal.
- Perform clean and intermittent catheterization, shallow and surface suctioning, and provide assistance with Glucometer, Insulin Pump, and other procedures related to diabetes.
- Administer routine medication needs as permitted under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Monitor and track the health needs of students and support their development of appropriate social, communication, and behavioral skills.
- Assist in supervision needs, including supervision on class trips, in the classroom, washrooms, and hallways, on the yard, at lunch, during examinations, receiving and delivering students to and from transportation, in academic groups, and with individuals.
- Participate as a member of the school collaborative team, acting as a resource to other staff members and taking part in the discussion of students' progress and needs while maintaining confidentiality.
- Two (2) year college diploma in Educational Support Program or equivalent two (2) year program.
- Up to six (6) months related experience.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) Certification - Full Program.
- A police record check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database Search dated within 6 months prior to the date of hire, is a requirement for employment.
