Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of People & Culture to lead our team at our Kitchener Head Office.

In this role, you will provide strong executive leadership and strategic direction to enhance Crawford's employee-centric people strategy. You will guide the human resources team with a focus on fostering a culture that aligns with our corporate values and supports our strategic goals. Collaboration with the human resources team is essential to ensure a unified approach to employee engagement, recruitment, professional development, talent management, performance processes, career planning, total rewards programs, policy development, and compliance.

You will oversee the People & Culture department to ensure alignment with human resources strategies that support business outcomes, emphasizing strategic leadership and vision that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) while enhancing the employee experience across Crawford.

As a key member of the Crawford Canada Executive Leadership Team, you will engage with various organizational centers of excellence globally as business needs evolve.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Employee Engagement and Communication:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive employee engagement and communication strategy.
  • Oversee employee recognition and awards programs to maximize their impact.
  • Facilitate the annual review of employee engagement surveys and action planning.
Recruitment and Training:
  • Collaborate with the human resources team to develop a compelling corporate and employee value proposition to attract top talent.
  • Guide human resources leaders and team members in achieving excellence in internal and external recruitment.
  • Ensure alignment between training initiatives and business objectives to support retention.
Talent Management and Performance:
  • Analyze trends affecting organizational performance and implement effective solutions.
  • Establish programs that promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and readiness for succession.
  • Encourage strategies that facilitate internal promotions and organizational mobility.
  • Implement a comprehensive employee performance and goal-setting framework to foster growth.
Total Rewards Program:
  • Work with leadership and human resources to develop a competitive total rewards program.
  • Benchmark total rewards against peer organizations and recommend necessary adjustments.
Policy Development and Compliance:
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of internal operations and industry best practices to inform HR strategy development.
  • Ensure corporate policies are aligned with best practices and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Propose updates and enhancements to policies and collaborate with the human resources team for regular reviews.
Department Administration:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the human resources team to effectively drive employee engagement.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and budget targets for the human resources department.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven leadership and business acumen with a strong track record in change management and HR best practices.
  • Ability to pivot and reprioritize based on evolving business needs while maintaining a growth mindset.
  • Experience in creating strategic plans that drive sustainable improvements in business results.
  • Understanding of HR policies, laws, and regulations impacting organizational decisions.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in an executive leadership role of similar scope.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in leading large-scale change management and employee engagement initiatives.
Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Human Resources Executive (CHRE) is preferred.
