Role Overview:
The Aquatics Program Supervisor is responsible for leading the aquatics team, focusing on program development and ensuring a safe aquatic environment. This role requires collaboration with YMCA staff and volunteers, addressing complex challenges and utilizing sound judgment to adapt procedures for unique situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute strategies to promote and sustain growth in aquatic programs.
- Guarantee a secure aquatic environment through effective hiring, supervision, and training of lifeguards, instructors, and volunteers.
- Deliver exceptional service standards while leading direct service delivery, emphasizing program quality and participant engagement.
- Identify staffing needs and coordinate with Recruitment for new hires.
- Provide orientation and training specific to roles for new staff and volunteers.
- Mentor and support staff and volunteers to excel in service delivery.
- Manage performance reviews for employees and volunteers in a timely manner.
- Address performance issues following the established disciplinary process.
- Participate in planning sessions and assist in developing program plans and materials, ensuring compliance with organizational and legislative standards.
- Assist in preparing the program budget and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
- Engage in staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required.
- Explore community partnership opportunities to enhance YMCA programs and services.
- Communicate effectively with program participants and stakeholders to uphold service delivery standards.
- Encourage philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Community Campaign.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in customer service and supervisory roles.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- Proven track record in implementing service standards.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification.
- Access to transportation for travel within the region.
- Successful candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check.
- Three professional references.
Preferred Qualifications:
- National Lifeguard certification.
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
- Experience in aquatics supervision.
- Lifeguard/Swim Instructor experience.
- Knowledge of ActiveNet software.
