Role Overview:

The Aquatics Program Supervisor is responsible for leading the aquatics team, focusing on program development and ensuring a safe aquatic environment. This role requires collaboration with YMCA staff and volunteers, addressing complex challenges and utilizing sound judgment to adapt procedures for unique situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute strategies to promote and sustain growth in aquatic programs.
  • Guarantee a secure aquatic environment through effective hiring, supervision, and training of lifeguards, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Deliver exceptional service standards while leading direct service delivery, emphasizing program quality and participant engagement.
  • Identify staffing needs and coordinate with Recruitment for new hires.
  • Provide orientation and training specific to roles for new staff and volunteers.
  • Mentor and support staff and volunteers to excel in service delivery.
  • Manage performance reviews for employees and volunteers in a timely manner.
  • Address performance issues following the established disciplinary process.
  • Participate in planning sessions and assist in developing program plans and materials, ensuring compliance with organizational and legislative standards.
  • Assist in preparing the program budget and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Engage in staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required.
  • Explore community partnership opportunities to enhance YMCA programs and services.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants and stakeholders to uphold service delivery standards.
  • Encourage philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Community Campaign.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in customer service and supervisory roles.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Proven track record in implementing service standards.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification.
  • Access to transportation for travel within the region.
  • Successful candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check.
  • Three professional references.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National Lifeguard certification.
  • YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in aquatics supervision.
  • Lifeguard/Swim Instructor experience.
  • Knowledge of ActiveNet software.
