Aquatic Program Coordinator

At the YMCA of Greater Vancouver, we are seeking an Aquatic Program Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for providing a safe and fun aquatics environment for our members and participants. The successful candidate will be responsible for guarding the pool and teaching swimming lessons in a positive and professional manner. They will also be responsible for building meaningful relationships with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues, and promoting philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign. Additionally, the Aquatic Program Coordinator will develop lesson plans for various programs and administer progressive evaluations for participants. They will also ensure program design, layout, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levels, and lead program delivery while ensuring contents meet the appropriate criteria and outline. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilities, and ensuring the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures.
Requirements
- Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 2 years)
- CPR level C and AED certificate (valid within 1 year)
- Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent
- National Lifeguard Certificate or equivalent
- Experience as a Swimming Instructor - preferred
- YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent – preferred
- Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle
- Advanced leadership courses are an asset
- Demonstrated high level of customer service skills
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
