Position Summary
Title: Outreach Nurse
Contract: until March 31, 2024
Hours: 30 hours per week
Location: Various communities in British Columbia
Role Overview
In the capacity of Outreach Nurse, you will provide essential nursing care and educational support focusing on mental health and substance use. Your role will involve enhancing nursing practice standards within communities, particularly in the area of RN/RPN prescribing for opiate agonist treatment and addressing the ongoing toxic drug crisis. This position offers the chance to travel to various communities, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and engage in innovative nursing practices. You will be part of a team dedicated to promoting wellness and fostering connections.
Qualifications
About You
To excel in this position, you will possess the following qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a diploma in Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Additional training in substance use, harm reduction, mental health, and trauma-informed care is preferred.
• Completion of the BCCSU RN/RPN Prescribing Education Program is an asset.
You may also have:
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse (RN) or registered psychiatric nurse (RPN) in primary care, community health, or acute care settings.
• At least two (2) years of experience working with clients facing harm reduction and substance use challenges.
