About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at The Government of Nova Scotia. As an Equipment Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining our provincial built infrastructure, ensuring the safety of our roads and highways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy machinery, including trucks, tractors, graders, and loaders, to perform summer maintenance and winter snow removal tasks.
  • Conduct pre-and-post trip inspections and maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist with construction and maintenance work, including road surface repairs, traffic control, and general maintenance.
  • Work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, and precipitation.
Requirements
  • Declared competent as an OPTP (One Person Truck Plow) operator by the Department of Public Works.
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Professionalism and high standard for client service.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical aptitude (assets).
  • Previous experience operating trucks with salt and plow equipment, Class I license, and knowledge of salt spreading systems (assets).
