Job Summary:
The External Construction Material Estimator will play a crucial role in determining the quantities and costs of materials required for various construction projects. This position requires collaboration with clients, sales personnel, and suppliers to deliver accurate and competitive estimates. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of construction materials, strong communication abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate project needs and gather essential information.
- Work in conjunction with contractors, architects, and engineers to comprehend project specifications.
- Generate detailed and precise material take-offs and cost estimates.
- Employ estimating software and tools to compile and present estimates effectively.
- Analyze and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Engage with suppliers to acquire pricing and availability of materials.
- Assist the sales team in preparing bids and proposals.
- Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and pricing.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and industry regulations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience as a building material estimator or in a comparable role.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in utilizing estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.).
- Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with robust organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
- A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
