Job Overview
Under general supervision, this role is accountable for the management and comprehension of data networks and network security, encompassing all communication systems within the Global Information Systems Infrastructure division. Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting core data networks and end-user data network requirements, which involve servers, desktops, telephones, voicemails, mobile devices, and data connectivity to host systems and applications. The position ensures that the long-term needs for data, security, and voice systems operations and administration are fulfilled through data analysis, trend evaluation, and reporting. This role is also responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of data, security, and voice networks. Standard operating procedures, work instructions, and standards documents will be developed and promoted. Routine audits of network and network security layers will be conducted to guarantee compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. On-call duties are required.
Key Responsibilities
• Holds technical accountability for the overall administration of the global data network and network security, ensuring alignment with design, GIS strategy, guidelines, principles, policies, and procedures.
• Provides advanced support to end-user communication systems in accordance with GIS Service Level Agreements.
• Manages personal performance with a focus on continuous professional development and learning.
• Assists in achieving departmental goals and responsibilities.
• Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves incidents in collaboration with colleagues and clients.
• Updates the incident tracking system in accordance with GIS processes, monitoring and communicating the status of incidents and escalating as necessary.
• Regularly engages with internal customers and teams to understand their requirements and keeps them informed of project progress and findings.
• Ensures accurate and comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures to facilitate system support.
• Required to be on-call, with all such work governed by the on-call policy.
• Utilizes problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of issues with internal clients and contractors, determining appropriate actions for complex activities.
• Develops a thorough understanding of all Apotex policies, procedures, and standards related to their information technology area.
• Ensures that advice provided to internal clients and colleagues adheres to directives and is delivered professionally.
• Contributes to the development and revision of standard operating procedures.
• Proficient in office automation tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Submits Status Reports, Expense Reports, and Employee Time Exception Forms promptly when required.
• Collaborates safely as a team member to achieve all objectives.

Job Qualifications
Education
• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Vendor Certifications, or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative approach and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrix, client-focused environment.
• Proven customer service orientation with familiarity in ITIL or similar service delivery/support frameworks.
• Capable of configuring data and security networks, including routing/switching, troubleshooting, management reporting; traffic, firewalls, proxy, cloud security, fault and performance monitoring, Ethernet, and IP protocols.
• Experience in the administration, installation, and implementation of data networking and network security devices.
Experience
• Ability to comprehend and analyze end-user issues, troubleshooting them promptly.
• 4-6 years of experience or education in a validated and/or change-controlled environment.
• Experience in maintaining and administering Event Management and Network Reporting Tools, including BMC, Solarwinds, HP NNM, and Riverbed Cascade.
• Administration of all network security layers, including cloud-based systems (e.g., NexGen FW, Identity Service Access Control Systems, Proxy/Policy control systems).
• Familiarity with video conferencing technologies, including troubleshooting, traffic management, and ensuring high quality of service.
• Assist in routine moves, adds, and changes (MACs) on voice and data equipment in coordination with logistics staff.
• Learn voicemail systems, including administration, setup, and configuration (e.g., Call Pilot, Cisco Unity).
• Experience with scanning technologies (RF and Fixed mount), including configuration, setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Learn Avaya/Nortel CS100E, Cisco Call Manager, or equivalent PBX systems, including configuration, administration, troubleshooting, traffic management, and reporting (certification is an asset).
• Gain experience working with SIP, VOIP, Microsoft OCS, Microsoft Lync, and Cisco Unified Communication Systems.
• Knowledge of wireless (WIFI) technology administration, including cellular, two-way, and in-building systems.
• Experience in data/security/voice communication protocols and implementing networking and security technologies on a global scale.
• Responsible for administering email systems, including cloud-based email (e.g., O365).
