Job Opportunity

The University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Justice Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field/area of Socio-Legal Studies. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a record of or potential for scholarly research and teaching excellence commensurate with the Assistant Professor rank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach core courses in the department as well as courses from the candidate's specialty.
  • Contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda.
  • Develop a record of effective student supervision and mentorship.
  • Participate in department, faculty, and university level service consistent with their appointed rank.

Program Overview

The Department of Justice Studies is home to two distinct, but related programs – a Bachelor of Human Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Police Studies. Our department has approximately 350 undergraduate majors – 230 Human Justice Majors and 120 Police Studies majors. Faculty in the department draw from pluralistic approaches grounded in the field of criminology and crossing over from various disciplines.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates should have in hand or be near completion of a terminal degree in Law, Socio-Legal Studies or a similar cognate discipline, or in a complementary discipline along with a non-terminal Law degree.
  • Work experience with legal services is considered an asset.
