Role Summary: The City is undergoing a significant transformation in its approach to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). The Occupational Health Systems Project Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to create a comprehensive Safety Data Management System (SDMS) that will be utilized by all City employees. This role requires a seasoned Project Manager to oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with the City’s safety strategy, budget adherence, and timely delivery of project milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage business cases, project charters, plans, schedules, and scope statements in alignment with the business unit's objectives. Provide recommendations and secure approvals for any necessary changes to deliverables, budget, or timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the Information Technology department to ensure system compatibility and integration.
  • Maintain project budgets, assess risks, formulate mitigation strategies, and implement necessary actions.
  • Lead the procurement process for external vendors and consultants, including the preparation of tender specifications and requests for proposals.
  • Guide project team members by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, evaluating work quality, and providing constructive feedback. Offer orientation, training, and mentorship to team members.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, brainstorming activities, focus groups, and individual meetings with project sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to various organizational levels, providing updates on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, along with a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing multidisciplinary projects; or
  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, currently enrolled in the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification program, with at least 8 years of experience in project management.
  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety or familiarity with Incident Management Databases is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and vendors, along with experience in preparing and presenting high-quality reports for senior management.
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities to guide teams towards achieving strategic objectives under tight deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing tasks to meet critical deadlines.

Working Conditions: This position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
