Nursing Unit Clerk, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Unit Clerk to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and complete patient charts, recording vital information such as weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, and lab test results.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Perform receptionist duties, including receiving patients, visitors, and others, and directing them to the appropriate area or staff.
- Assist with clerical tasks, such as typing, answering phones, and requisitioning supplies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program.
- One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
