POSITION OVERVIEW
The In-Home Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering personalized assistance and care within the home environment. As an integral part of Simcoe County's Long Term Care and Seniors Services, this position emphasizes a dedication to client safety and well-being by providing high-quality support aligned with the organization's mission and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver personal care services to clients following established policies and recognized healthcare principles acquired through the Personal Support Worker training program.
2. Engage in activities that promote the physical, social, and emotional health of each client, actively participating in their overall care process.
3. Monitor and document any significant changes in clients' physical and emotional states, ensuring accurate records in the appropriate systems.
4. Assist clients with daily living tasks, including laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene, while also managing medication checks and meal services.
5. Foster professional relationships with colleagues, clients, families, and community partners to enhance the quality of care.
6. Contribute to the development and revision of care policies and procedures, participating in quality risk management initiatives.
7. Utilize electronic systems effectively to support care delivery.
8. Ensure a safe living environment for all clients.
9. Uphold ethical standards in all interactions and responsibilities.
10. Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and students.
11. Collaborate on client care plans and maintain necessary documentation.
12. Respond promptly to client emergencies, assessing situations and seeking professional assistance when required.
13. Incorporate resident safety principles into daily activities, communicating any potential risks immediately.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
15. Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and relevant regulations while performing duties safely.
16. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.
17. Participate in ongoing education and training, identifying personal and group learning needs to enhance professional development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Completion of, or enrollment in, the Personal Support Worker Certification program as mandated by relevant regulations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an inter-professional care team.
• Physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
• Proven reliability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Leadership and organizational abilities.
• First Aid certification is advantageous.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• A recent Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is necessary for employment.
• TB testing results must be submitted as a condition of employment.
• Bilingualism in English and French is an asset for specific locations.

• Potential exposure to illnesses while providing care to clients.
