Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Commercial Banking group, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial credit relationships and ensuring the quality and profitability of our lending activities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of commercial credit relationships, including credit applications, risk assessments, and portfolio maintenance.
- Supervise a team of credit adjudicators and provide guidance on credit and risk management practices.
- Collaborate with business partners in Commercial Banking and other business lines to ensure effective credit decision-making and risk management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve portfolio quality, reduce risk, and increase profitability.
- Contribute to the development of the Bank's commercial human resources by identifying training needs and providing coaching and guidance to team members.
- Thorough understanding of commercial banking and credit policies and procedures.
- Expert understanding of bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation, and collection practices.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage a team and provide guidance and coaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with line and corporate personnel.
- Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly communicate rationale for decisions.
