Position Overview
Are you dedicated to the field of nursing and eager to enhance your expertise? We are currently looking for a committed Licensed Practical Nurse to provide compassionate care within the Emergency Department.
The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical environment, adhering to the standards set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The LPN will engage closely with the healthcare team in various direct care tasks, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of interventions, and coordination of health services for patients in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in discharge and care planning, acting as a patient advocate.
- Educate patients and their families on health promotion, illness, and injury management.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships grounded in respect.
- Deliver care to patients across different age groups, focusing on stable and predictable health conditions.
- Respond to unexpected patient outcomes by collaborating with healthcare team members.
- Document care provided and responses to incidents in accordance with established protocols.
- Consult and collaborate with other healthcare providers as necessary.
Training and Development
The Northern Health In-House Emergency Training Program offers a comprehensive education framework designed to equip nurses with essential emergency care skills. This program includes:
- Fundamental topics and practice guidelines in emergency nursing.
- Development of specialized skills and knowledge for safe and competent care.
- Promotion of professionalism within the emergency nursing field.
- Placement support and funding for educational expenses.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program and at least one year of relevant experience.
- Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BCCNM.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions for various patient conditions.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment and ethical patient care practices.
- Proficiency in the use of medical equipment and documentation systems.
