Role Overview:
The Android Security Architect will conceptualize, design, and develop new security and privacy features for Samsung's mobile offerings. This role requires staying informed about security advancements, vulnerability disclosures, and trends in the mobile industry, including sophisticated malware and spyware tactics, to devise effective countermeasures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative security and privacy features for Samsung's mobile devices aimed at end users.
- Collaborate with product management teams to refine and enhance proposals.
- Design and structure security features effectively.
- Clearly communicate feature rationales and designs to stakeholders to achieve consensus.
- Provide expert security advice to global development teams, ensuring that security standards are integrated throughout the development lifecycle.
- Stay updated on the latest security features and vulnerability disclosures related to mobile devices from various credible sources.
- Engage in research and innovation in security, including patent development where applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a professional capacity with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's degree; or 5 years with a PhD; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in computer security and/or user privacy through one or more of the following:
- Academic publications.
- Professional experience in security, either in academia or industry.
- Vulnerability disclosures, such as CVEs.
- Development of tools for analyzing software.
- Comprehensive understanding of security architecture principles, including threat modeling, trust frameworks, access control, and cryptographic fundamentals.
- In-depth knowledge of the Android software stack, with a focus on Android framework security, access controls, and system internals.
- Awareness of current threats to smartphones, including advanced malware, ransomware, and spyware.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and exploit mitigation strategies.
