About the Role

The Municipality of North Cowichan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatic Attendant to join our team at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre. As a key member of our recreational services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for our patrons, and contributing to the overall success of our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patrons, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Aquatic Operations: Assist in the operation of the waterslides, lead aquatic programs or activities, and perform custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Program Delivery: Assist in the delivery of a wide range of innovative aquatic programs, services, and events, ensuring a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Facility Management: Assist in the management of facility operations, including requisitioning supplies, materials, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives, demonstrating a positive and supportive attitude.
Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of age and completion of Grade 8.
  • Possession and maintenance of valid current Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid or AEC certifications.
  • Demonstrable theory, practical skills, and abilities related to water rescue, safety, and prevention, program content and delivery, and communication.
  • Demonstrable ability to receive and implement directions, manage competing priorities, meet facility standards or ideals, and work towards excellence in the operation of the Aquatic Centre.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and shift work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under supervision.
  • The position may be physically demanding; candidate must be able to successfully perform all duties associated with the position. A medical certificate attesting to suitability for this position may be required.
