Public Health Physician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Health Officer to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and management of public health programs and services, as well as leading statutory programs for Fraser Health and the Province.
Key Responsibilities- Statutory and Legislative Requirements
- Responsible for carrying out the legislated requirements of the Public Health Act, Community Care Facility and Assisted Living Act, Drinking Water Protection Act, School Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Management
- Provides strong clinical leadership and joint decision-making accountability for the delivery of public health regional programs and services.
- Community Medicine/Public Health Preventive Medicine Consultant
- Provides evidence-based opinions and works collaboratively with Fraser Health staff, physicians, municipal councils, school boards, and other government ministries on a wide variety of public health issues.
- Population Health
- Responsible for monitoring and assessing the health status of the community, making recommendations for strategies to address health issues, and providing leadership on implementing immediate actions to protect the health of the public.
- Community Health Planning, Evaluation, Research and Program Development
- Assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness of health programs and the planning and evaluation of programs designed to address emerging health issues.
- Advocacy
- Responsible for advocating for actions that will improve the health of populations, communicating directly with the public and elected officials on health issues affecting the community.
- A Medical Degree and eligibility for a full license to practice medicine in British Columbia.
- A Master's in Health Sciences (or equivalent qualifications).
- A FRCP(C) in Public Health and Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine.
- Experience with health program administration and management, including serving on medical advisory committees, program management responsibility, and community advisory committees.
