Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Technician to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our gas distribution team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of gas system assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete internal training and field coaching to develop skills and knowledge in gas system installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Perform Distribution Technician tasks independently and as part of a crew, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company standards.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure the safety of the public, cooperating with first responders and other authorities.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and team members, providing excellent customer service and resolving conflicts in a professional manner.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years' relevant pipe fitting and/or underground utility field experience.
  • High school graduation and a Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Provincial Gas B ticket is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge of Gas Installation Systems, including comprehensive understanding of theory and operation of material and equipment related to gas operations.
  • Excellent customer relations and emergency response skills.

  • This role has standby/on-call requirements based on operational needs.
  • The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position.
  • This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
  • This role has travel/out of town requirements based on operational needs.
  • This position has a requirement to be clean-shaven as per WCB standards.
