About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled and safety-conscious driver to operate various vehicle types, including Front End, Roll Off, Residential, and other trucks. Your primary responsibility will be to collect solid waste or recyclables and deliver them to landfills, MRFs, or transfer stations. You'll also fill in for various routes as needed to ensure consistent service.

Requirements:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate
  • Ability to meet relevant safety criteria according to Company standards
  • Demonstrated ability to safely drive the truck and operate equipment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate one or more vehicle types with automatic and standard transmission, collecting solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables on a collection route
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and reports, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation requested by supervisors
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanics and supervisors immediately
  • Operate trucks and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions in performance of duties
  • Maintain clean vehicles by cleaning cab interiors and exteriors
  • Manage assigned helpers if applicable
  • Conform to all applicable federal, state/provincial, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation
  • Ensure all required personal protective equipment is worn at all times
  • Report all accidents or incidents to supervisors immediately
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed
  • Perform extra or special pick-ups
  • May be needed to complete route observations on all routes on a pre-determined basis, document findings, and provide reports to immediate supervisors
  • Stop service directives
  • Develop directions to new accounts
  • May assist with training other drivers
  • Attend safety and branch meetings
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
