Job Summary

About the Organization:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) plays a crucial role in regulating the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis sectors within the province. The LDB oversees the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis products and manages the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in B.C., improving service delivery, and ensuring sustainability for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB supports essential public services, including healthcare, education, and community programs.

The Information Technology (IT) division of the LDB encompasses seven key areas: Customer Experience, Infrastructure & Operations, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Software Services, Data Services, and IT Program Governance. Currently, four divisions managed by IT Directors are responsible for these areas, ensuring the IT mandate supports LDB's corporate and operational needs while enabling future initiatives.

With a team of over 260 full-time employees, the IT department also collaborates with external experts to deliver strategic initiatives effectively and efficiently.

The IT department manages the entire computing infrastructure for over 230 BC Liquor Stores, BC Cannabis Stores, and the LDB's head office, along with four Warehouse/Distribution Centres. Additionally, it oversees three data centres located in various regions.

About this Role:

Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Quality Assurance Analyst is tasked with analyzing requirements, ensuring their testability and traceability; leading the process for test management and defect tracking; developing automated test scripts linked to requirements using programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#; conducting both manual and automated testing; and identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing defects, issues, or change requests. The role also involves establishing and maintaining the Automated Test Framework and Scripts.

A successful completion of a criminal record check is a prerequisite.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

OR

A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered, such as a secondary school diploma with formal coursework and/or certifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with four years of relevant experience.

*Relevant experience must have occurred within the last five years and should include:
  • Experience in test planning, execution, and documentation of test results.
  • Experience in developing, executing, and/or maintaining test automation scripts and/or frameworks in C# or Java.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • QA certifications such as Certified Test Engineer (CSTE), Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), or International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB).
  • Experience in the beverage alcohol industry or wholesale/retail operations.
  • Experience in presenting test plans, creating test reports, and identifying/escalating risks.
  • Experience in Agile testing environments.
  • Experience in developing master test plans.
  • Experience in creating test automation frameworks using tools like Selenium WebDriver, Rest API, and Jenkins.
  • Experience with programming and/or scripting languages such as Java, C#, Python, or Visual Basic.
  • Experience in performance/load/stress testing frameworks.
  • Experience in managing test environments.
  • Experience in leading software/product test teams, defining test approaches, and logging defects.
  • Experience with business systems and processes related to inventory, pricing, marketing, and finance.
