Lead Technical Product Manager, Core Infrastructure

Overview of the Role & Team
The Core Platform team is dedicated to consolidating third-party data ingestion and creating a unified source of truth for sports data. As a Senior Technical Product Manager within this team, you will collaborate with skilled and approachable developers, gaining insights into the advanced technologies they utilize while influencing our strategic direction and vision. This role allows you to merge your business insight with technical knowledge to identify and implement innovative solutions to prevalent challenges across the organization.
Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Senior Technical Product Manager on the Core Platform team, your duties will include:- Collaborating closely with business and engineering stakeholders to identify their challenges
- Performing technical market analysis to inform internal decision-making on projects
- Facilitating internal discovery and brainstorming sessions to validate new concepts
- Partnering with engineering and product stakeholders to gather insights and achieve alignment
- Developing a solid understanding of cutting-edge technologies and concepts (e.g., Kafka)
- Utilizing your insights to influence the strategy and roadmap of the Core Platform team
- Overseeing the daily product development workflow for the Core Platform team
- Collecting and refining technical requirements into actionable and testable tasks
- Continuously enhancing kanban methodologies employed by the team to streamline processes
- Prioritizing technical backlogs based on engineering and business goals
- Coordinating the release process in collaboration with the Release Management team
- Performing additional duties as necessary
Candidate Profile
- 5-8+ years of experience in product management within a technical setting
- Educational background in computer science, business, IT, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with various components of backend systems (e.g., microservices, databases, messaging systems)
- Understanding of platform-oriented thinking and methodologies (e.g., designing for reuse, abstracting complexity)
- Comfortable delving into the technical intricacies to collaborate with developers in gathering and prioritizing requirements
- Strong skills in stakeholder and project management
- Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical ideas to senior and executive stakeholders
- A proactive team player with self-motivation
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, Databases, Kafka, or DataDog
- Preferred: familiarity with the data engineering lifecycle, particularly data governance aspects such as discoverability and integrity
