Position Summary: J & L Beef Ltd., a division of Sunrise Farms, is currently seeking applications for the role of 4th Class Power Engineer. This position is essential for providing high-level maintenance expertise to minimize departmental downtime and ensure efficient operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting equipment and facility repairs while adhering to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily inspections as mandated by Technical Safety BC, including monitoring refrigeration systems, hot water systems, and wastewater facilities while following food safety and safety protocols.
  • Engage with external support services as necessary.
  • Assist maintenance personnel and mechanics in troubleshooting and repairs to reduce downtime and costs.
  • Support production and sanitation teams as needed.
  • Respond promptly to breakdown calls, assessing and repairing issues to limit operational downtime.
  • Maintain secondary production equipment such as conveyors and simple machinery in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with team members, supervisors, and all plant staff.
  • Report any defects or production errors that may impact the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including daily work sheets, preventative maintenance logs, and work orders.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform building repairs with focus and attention to detail.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and food safety compliance standards.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:
  • Completion of Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Preferred post-secondary education and training.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
