Job Summary

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive social work and psychosocial assessments, educate and support clients and families, and facilitate effective care planning. Responsibilities
  1. Provide comprehensive therapeutic clinical counseling services to clients with mental illness and their families.
  2. Conduct comprehensive social work and psychosocial assessments of clients with mental illness and substance misuse/dependence.
  3. Educate and provide consultation and support to clients, families, and healthcare professionals on issues related to mental health.
  4. Maintain client records and prepare progress notes and reports.
  5. Collaborate with hospital and community services to determine appropriate levels of care and effective utilization of client resources.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with mental health and related community service agencies and family physicians.
  7. Act as a resource to clients and their families by providing information and facilitating access to community resources.
  8. Participate in program/practice evaluation and identify opportunities for change.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of Social Work and two years of recent, related experience in a mental health treatment setting. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers and a valid Class 5 BC driver's license with access to a personal vehicle for business purposes are also required.

The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of emotional issues related to mental illness and addictions, as well as client and family cultural dynamics. They will also have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a complex environment and provide effective leadership to the interdisciplinary team.
