We are searching for a highly motivated and experienced Woodlands Operations Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Global COO Pulp, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations across our Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Woodlands budget effectively, ensuring successful delivery within a dynamic wood market environment.
  • Coordinate the supply of high-quality timber to our mills located in Nackawic and Atholville, maintaining optimal wood inventories aligned with safety stock policies.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to optimize wood costs and fiber yield, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
  • Negotiate favorable wood contracts, securing competitive pricing and volume agreements.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the financial implications of Woodlands decisions on the company's profitability.
  • Build and maintain robust business networks within the industry.
  • Provide inspiring leadership to the Woodlands team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Exhibit autonomy in operational decision-making, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure strict compliance with sustainable certification standards, upholding our commitment to environmental responsibility.
  • Act as a passionate advocate for sustainability within the company and the wider community.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the field operations, prioritizing the well-being of all personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering is required.
  • An MBA is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience within the forestry industry.
  • A steadfast commitment to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy.
  • A highly motivated and resilient individual with a passion for the forestry sector.
