Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems for diverse new and renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Lead detailed design for projects of various sizes, assigning tasks to team members and ensuring successful project completion.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor mechanical designers and engineers, ensuring high-quality work and providing technical guidance to clients and project subconsultants.
  • Design Coordination: Attend design and coordination meetings, perform construction site reviews when required, and analyze client proposals to select mechanical equipment and prepare schematic design reports.
  • Quality Control: Review and provide feedback on colleagues' drawings and designs, ensuring adherence to project design hours and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Project Management: Identify the need for additional services, communicate effectively with the Project Manager, and maintain project schedules and budgets, tracking work progress and resource utilization.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
  • Technical Knowledge: Detailed understanding of building systems and their impact on mechanical systems, proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and specifications, and strong knowledge of current codes and standards, including plumbing and building codes.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written communication skills, proficiency in software (Microsoft Word, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT, etc.), and financial acumen related to projects, including work backlog, work in progress, and project costs vs. budgets.
  • Leadership and Management: Ability to schedule, mentor, and manage project teams on multiple concurrent projects.
