About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Masonry Specialist to join our team at BARCELOS MASONRY INC. as a Bricklayer. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and laying bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry units to build residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Lay Masonry Units: Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units to build walls, chimneys, and other structures.
  • Construct and Install Prefabricated Units: Construct and install prefabricated masonry units, such as patios and garden walls.
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required for each project.
  • Cut and Trim Materials: Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
  • Install Firebricks and Refractory Materials: Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks, and line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers, and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks and materials.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Physically Demanding Work: The role requires physically demanding work, including handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the trade is preferred.
  • Personal Qualities: Accurate, client-focused, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, and a team player attitude are essential for success in this role.
  • Financial Benefits: As per collective agreement, with a permanent work term, 35 to 44 hours per week, and work language English.
