About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Technology Sourcing team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies to support the bank's technology needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with IT leaders to support enterprise objectives and influence key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit and Operations leaders to understand key business drivers and achieve required support levels.
  • Lead business value through the development of high-quality and cost-effective supply relationships.
  • Directly lead and implement best practices in sourcing initiatives.
  • Manage categories within and across the bank's business segments.
  • Track sourcing initiatives for multi-functional stakeholder teams.
  • Establish and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Proactively work with Business Line VMOs and contract owners to understand business needs and build an overall supplier contract strategy.
  • Lead Top-to-Top Supplier Meetings for enterprise suppliers.
  • Act as the issues/incident escalation point for suppliers with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Contribute to a disciplined effort to influence spend and drive cost savings across all business segments.
  • Support consistent application of procurement processes across constituent groups.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships.
  • Understand how the bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, or related field; master's degree in business or engineering, CIS, science, or finance an asset.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years progressive sourcing experience.
  • CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) preferred.
  • Global sourcing experience, including technology services-related expertise.
  • Ability to bridge communications between Sourcing, IT, business, and legal stakeholders/partners.
  • Excellent change-leadership and conflict resolution management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and comfort in speaking with senior leaders at the bank.
  • Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third-Party relationships is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical and financial issues and use them to inform the creation of effective action plans and supplier strategies.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with global stakeholder groups.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, exhibits a high level of professionalism.
  • Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art procurement and analysis technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging IT and related architecture.
