Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized assessments of clinical workflows and translate these into actionable requirements for digital health and information technology teams. Collaborate with various clinical groups, project teams, and organizational partners to identify technology gaps and clinical needs for users of the electronic health record system.
  • Act as the primary informatics expert, liaising with the Digital Health department and other organizational programs to support system-wide practice and workflow changes, innovation, and documentation standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment by integrating resources from various departments and vendor partners in clinical systems implementations. Lead and participate in committees and task forces focused on clinical informatics and IT initiatives.
  • Spearhead the development of clinical change management policies and procedures related to electronic health records and clinical practice redesign, ensuring alignment with evolving roles and functions.
  • Oversee the system design life cycle, including design, content development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of electronic health information systems, while participating in custom report development and data analysis for informed decision-making.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing and clinical staff, leveraging your informatics expertise to enhance the integration of clinical informatics advancements into practice.
  • Coordinate and evaluate upcoming system releases, conducting impact analyses and collaborating with subject matter experts to develop educational resources for end users, promoting the effective use of clinical decision support tools.
  • Organize and lead training sessions focused on the safe and efficient use of clinical information systems, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.

Qualifications

  • Active registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a Clinical Informatics setting, including involvement in Clinical and Systems Transformation (CST) implementation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require travel and flexible working hours as per organizational needs.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong clinical competency and adherence to practice standards, with a commitment to evidence-based care.
  • Proven experience in policy development, clinical documentation standards, and business process analysis.
  • Awareness of current trends in clinical practice and information systems.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong organizational abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships with technical and operational staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and clinical change management.
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications and technologies.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
