The Project Manager role focuses on overseeing the KVHP (Kelowna Vernon Hospital Project) and is based at the hospital sites in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to plan, organize, direct, control, and assess construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, specifications, and budgetary constraints in line with corporate policies and construction business processes.
  • Implement and manage company and regulatory Health and Safety Programs, including conducting Tool Box meetings, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Ensure adherence to and execution of Safety Management Systems and Quality Control programs across all projects.
  • Conduct weekly site safety inspections and task observations.
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports and schedules to clients.
  • Identify and assess risks in work/contracts/WIP, updating reports and addressing deficiencies.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients and suppliers to enhance industry competitiveness and promote positive customer interactions.
  • Develop and submit construction project budget estimates to the Construction Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Design and monitor construction schedules and milestones against established timelines.
  • Draft contracts and negotiate modifications, changes, and additions to agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate and submit shop drawings for approval between vendors, consultants, and owners.
  • Prepare Operation Maintenance Manuals (O&M's) as required.
  • Manage material and equipment procurement for secured projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate various smaller projects to support Facility Management Operations (FMO).
  • Conduct subcontractor prequalification, coordination, and orientation.
  • Handle monthly progress billing processes.

Educational Background

  • A university degree in engineering, a college diploma in construction technology, or a PMP designation.
  • Equivalent experience as a tradesperson may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction sector; supervisory or superintendent experience is advantageous.

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel between project sites as necessary.
  • Demonstrated expertise in construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business operations processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficient to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project) and JD Edwards or Oracle-based ERP systems.
  • Strong contract management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Criminal Background check.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 (or higher) BC Driver's License.

Additional Information

To comply with client mandates, successful candidates will be required to validate their vaccination status prior to employment.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $74,000 and $94,000, contingent upon the candidate's qualifications, including education and experience. Salary is part of Black & McDonald's comprehensive rewards package, which may include benefits such as vehicle allowances, group insurance, pension plans, performance bonuses, and career development opportunities.
