About the Role:

Acadia University is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Support Technician to enhance our team. This position is crucial for maintaining our ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory facilities. The successful candidate will engage in method development and uphold quality standards, contributing to programs such as the Nova Scotia Wine Quality Standards Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting fundamental laboratory procedures
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory instruments
  • Managing and processing client samples
  • Collecting, analyzing, and managing data
  • Assisting in the maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation
  • Training and supervising student interns
  • Overseeing inventory management
  • Supporting routine laboratory functions
  • Contributing to method development and quality assurance initiatives
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry or a related field
  • Familiarity with chemical testing methodologies
  • Practical experience in data collection and management
  • Experience with quality assurance processes and ISO/IEC 17025 is advantageous
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational and analytical capabilities
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
