Director of Long Term Care Health Services

The Director of Long Term Care Health Services is a key leadership position at Prairie Mountain Health, responsible for overseeing the operations of Personal Care Homes in the region. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare management, leadership, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safe administration and operation of Personal Care Homes in Prairie Mountain Health, adhering to Manitoba Health Seniors and Long Term Care (MHSLTC) standards and Accreditation Canada standards.
- Develop and implement clinical and administrative policies and procedures related to Personal Care Homes, in collaboration with other departments and programs.
- Monitor and address financial, human resources, equipment, and environmental issues affecting Personal Care Homes in the region.
- Lead the planning and development of a sustainable department, promoting quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness, and satisfaction in clinical services.
- Develop and maintain functional relationships with other departments and programs, promoting positive public relations and operationalizing Prairie Mountain Health's Vision, Mission, and Values statements.
- Baccalaureate degree in a health-related area or business, or a suitable combination of relevant education and experience.
- Current registration with applicable licensing bodies.
- Certificate in Health Services Management or Nursing Administration preferred.
- Directly related experience within the last seven years.
- Five years of management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge and experience in financial management within a public sector organization.
- Competent with Windows-based programs (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of Manitoba Personal Care Home Standards and legislation, and Accreditation Canada standards for Long Term Care.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations.
- Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.
- Ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
- Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of healthcare management.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop policies and procedures.
- Ability to display independent judgment.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
