Job Summary

The Director of Long Term Care Health Services is a key leadership position at Prairie Mountain Health, responsible for overseeing the operations of Personal Care Homes in the region. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare management, leadership, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the safe administration and operation of Personal Care Homes in Prairie Mountain Health, adhering to Manitoba Health Seniors and Long Term Care (MHSLTC) standards and Accreditation Canada standards.
  2. Develop and implement clinical and administrative policies and procedures related to Personal Care Homes, in collaboration with other departments and programs.
  3. Monitor and address financial, human resources, equipment, and environmental issues affecting Personal Care Homes in the region.
  4. Lead the planning and development of a sustainable department, promoting quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness, and satisfaction in clinical services.
  5. Develop and maintain functional relationships with other departments and programs, promoting positive public relations and operationalizing Prairie Mountain Health's Vision, Mission, and Values statements.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related area or business, or a suitable combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Current registration with applicable licensing bodies.
  • Certificate in Health Services Management or Nursing Administration preferred.
  • Directly related experience within the last seven years.
  • Five years of management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial management within a public sector organization.
  • Competent with Windows-based programs (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Personal Care Home Standards and legislation, and Accreditation Canada standards for Long Term Care.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of healthcare management.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies and procedures.
  • Ability to display independent judgment.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
