Position Overview
Connective collaborates with the Yukon Review Board to offer community housing assistance. This role is essential in providing residents with opportunities to engage safely in various aspects of life, including home, relationships, social and cultural interactions, employment, and health and wellness. You will work closely with residents and other community service providers to maintain a secure and supportive atmosphere.

Work Schedule
Shifts available:
- Mornings (08:00 – 16:00)
- Evenings (16:00 – 00:00)
- Overnights (00:00 – 08:00)

Casual employees are expected to be available for a minimum of 30 shifts monthly, including 10 overnight shifts. For full-time employees or full-time students, fewer shifts may be required, subject to proof of employment or enrollment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in program development for individuals living semi-independently, documenting and implementing plans while contributing to program evaluations.
  • Assess client needs and create short-term strategies to address those needs, involving clients and their families in the process.
  • Assist clients in achieving independence in their homes and communities through life skills training and behavior management.
  • Identify and manage potential emergency situations to reduce risks to clients and the public.
  • Collaborate with community service providers, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and First Nations service providers to develop and execute individualized support plans aligned with harm reduction principles.
  • Participate in team meetings and corporate initiatives, contributing to ongoing team planning and quality improvement efforts while maintaining a healthy environment for clients and staff.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A Diploma in Social Services with at least one year of relevant experience is preferred; training may be provided for suitable candidates.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations facing multiple challenges, either professionally or personally.
  • Proven ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • Strong motivation, flexibility, and sensitivity towards residents.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate stairs.
  • Capability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Competence in performing First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Capacity to complete general housekeeping tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, laundry, changing light bulbs).
Essential Requirements
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check.
  • Passing a TB Screening.
  • Successful reference check.
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination.
  • Understanding of service provision for individuals with diverse learning abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage potential violence.
Compensation and Benefits

The starting wage is $31.12 plus 10.2% in lieu, with increases every 2,000 hours worked, up to a maximum of $36.23 per hour.
